Air guitar roos and flossing beavers are among the finalists of the 2023 Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards

The animal kingdom is a dynamic place, filled with plenty of action and drama. Freeze and capture any moment in time and an animal’s behavior can become hilarious. A smoking fox, a flying seal, and an avian family dispute are among the 41 images shortlisted for this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photo awards. Narrowed down from thousands of entries submitted by professional and amateur photographers from around the world, the competition aims to celebrate the hilarity of our natural wildlife. And this year’s selection does not disappoint. The overall winner, category and highly commended winners will be announced on November 23.…Continue Reading

CNN, AP cut ties with photographer, deny advance knowledge of Hamas attack

Several news organizations firmly denied on Thursday that they had advanced knowledge of the deadly Oct. 7 Hamas attacks on Israel, after a pro-Israel media watchdog group suggested that the freelance photographers they worked with had been tipped off. HonestReporting, which says it is dedicated to “exposing and responding to inaccuracies or bias” in media coverage of Israel, published a report Wednesday naming four freelance photographers who it implied had advanced knowledge of the Hamas incursion because they had been well-positioned to photograph it. While not directly accusing the news organizations, the group made insinuations of complexity. “What were [the…Continue Reading

‘One in a million’ iPhone bridal photo explanation: blame panorama mode

Depending on how “online” you are, you may have seen a picture floating around socials with a strange quirk: a woman — comedian Tessa Coates — is standing in front of two mirrors in a bridal gown and, somehow, holding three poses at once . Coates insisted in his Instagram post that the picture wasn’t altered; it just came out that way. So what happened? Was it a glitched iOS Live Photo (the iOS feature that takes short videos and picks out the best one)? A fake image manipulated with Photoshop? A brief glimpse into three different, parallel realities? Nope,…Continue Reading
